CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE CULTURAL ARTS
Players by the Sea presents Creativity Behind the Curtain, a program offering a behind the scenes look into the creative processes that make the magic of theatre. Creativity Behind The Curtain was created to enhance the theatre experience throughout Jacksonville Beach and the surrounding communities by offering professional development opportunities, classroom workshops, and other production elements. To expand the experience, CBTC has partnered with organizations that cater to young adults within underserved communities. In 2019 Players by the Sea partnered with PACE center for girls and invited groups of at-risk young female high school students to the theater to experience careers behind the curtain and to provide hands-on learning with technical theatre (lights, sound, props, scenic painting). This year PBTS partnered with Don't Miss A Beat Inc.

We are so excited to be partnering with Don't Miss a Beat this Summer! We're bringing our Creativity Behind the Curtain curriculum to their summer camp as they prepare for their amazing showcase!
ABOUT DON'T MISS A BEAT (DMAB)
Don’t Miss a Beat was founded in 2008 by Ulysses Owens, Jr. and his family. The program began with the singular objective of helping suspended youths stay in school so they wouldn’t “miss a beat.” Since then, DMAB programming has evolved to include the performing arts, academic enrichment and civic engagement as well as job skills training for parents.
In 2010, with help from City Councilman Warren Jones, DMAB was selected by the City of Jacksonville and JaxParks to be “in residence” at the J.S. Johnson Community Center’s Youth Room in Jacksonville. This great honor allowed DMAB to provide programming for underserved youth all year long and enhanced the organization’s sustainability by providing it with a permanent home.
