  1. Synopsis

The Players by the Sea New Year's Eve party has attained legendary status, spoiling guests with warm hospitality, an over-the-top three-course banquet and first-rate musical entertainment.  This year's show is Five Guys Named Moe, featuring music and lyrics by jazz great Louis Jordan, who wrote more than fifty top ten singles.  It's a festive way to usher in 2013, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, the kind of party where you don't have to bring a date to have a great time.

Five Guys Named Moe is directed by noted local choreographer Alejandro Rodriguez.  His imaginative choreography enlivened Reefer Madness last summer, winning him a Pelican Award for Outstanding Choreography.  Musical Director is Bryant Miano, winner of the PBTS Pelican Award for Outstanding Musical Director for Next to Normal.  The energetic cast features Anthony Mincey Jr. as BIG MOE: Jerald Wheat .as EAT MOE:  Reese Dickerson as FOUR-EYED MOE: Steven Anderson Jr. as LITTLE MOE:Ben Bennett as NO MOE and Eugene Lindsey as NOMAX.

Nomax "ain't got nothing but the blues." His woman left him, he's broke and it's five o'clock in the morning.  Out of his radio pop five guys named Moe: authoritative Big Moe, chubby Eat Moe, smart Four-Eyed Moe, Little Moe, who likes his women large, and disapproving No Moe. They advise and comfort Nomax with hit songs including "Caldonia,"  "Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens" and "Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby."  It's an exhilarating theatrical experience with audience participation to get theatre-goers jumping out of their seats to join the fun!

Catering is by PBTS Vice President Michelle Wiggins, the chef de cuisine for Players' popular opening night receptions.  Volunteers go all-out to provide superb dining, starting with elegant hors d'oeuvres, followed by a sumptuous buffet, featuring multiple entrees, side dishes and salads.  An array of delicious desserts is served at intermission.  After the show, there's free champagne and the midnight countdown.
