CONTEMPORARY TRAGEDY | Set in a Federal Prison Complex in Tallahassee, Florida. SENTENCES, is loosely based on the prison sentence of Jan Jordon, the mother of playwright Drew L Brown. Robin Owens, a lonely divorcee, becomes involved in an online relationship with a man who uses her computer to distribute child pornography, Robin, is arrested and sentenced to six years in prison. Riddled with worry for her daughter, Robin struggles to adjust to prison. Unbeknownst to Robin, a drug ring involving corrupt guards and defeatist inmates progressively unfolds. SENTENCES, offers an authentic look into the flaws of our criminal justice system through the experience of a mother desperate to reunite with her daughter.
Drew L Brown is one of Jacksonville's rising filmmakers who has not only obtained a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Filmmaking, but also a Student Academy Award from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for his film "Person". Drew’s recent theatre appearances include “Red” at ABET/Limelight Theatre, “Hair” and "Grease" at Amelia Community Theatre, "Almost, Maine" and "La Cage Aux Folles"at Players by the Sea, "Hairspray" at Theatre Jacksonville, and "The Rocky Horror Show."
