Pelican Awards 2006-2007 Season

On Saturday, August 4th Players by the Sea honored the hundreds of volunteers who contributed their time and talents to the 2006-2007 season. Musical comedy performers Lee Hamby, Josh Waller and Staci Cobb were hosts for the evening, handing out thirty-one Pelican Awards to actors, directors, designers, backstage and technical crew for outstanding achievements on the Mainstage and in the Studio Theatre. Hospitality volunteers and those who rendered all-around service to Players by the Sea were also recognized.

The 2006-2007 season was our most ambitious to date, opening with a blockbuster production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance and ending with a special presentation of Bat Boy the Musical. It included the world premiere of Accidental Felon by local playwright David Sacks, as well cutting-edge drama, American classics, and down-home comedy. Beginning in August 2006 and ending in July 2007, the season set new records for attendance and box office receipts, making it the best year ever in our forty-one years.
